Singer, songwriter, and performer Sarah Miner brings a rich theatrical background, a love of jazz, and a natural gift for storytelling to every performance. Her musical journey has taken her across the country, from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles to the Off-Broadway stages of New York City, where The New York Times recognized her as one of the "promising voices on display," noting that she was "making a particular impression."
It was while performing in Detroit that Sarah's love affair with jazz truly took shape. Drawn to the city's vibrant jazz scene, she spent countless evenings frequenting local clubs and sitting in on late-night sets. That passion soon led to an invitation to perform alongside Alex Graham and the Grand Hotel Orchestra at the iconic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
Among her most memorable musical experiences was the opportunity to perform a jazz-inspired rendition of "God Bless America," accompanied by acclaimed pianist David Shenton, just before the legendary Tony Bennett took the stage at Staten Island's historic St. George Theatre.
Sarah released her debut EP, It's Alright With Me, featuring an exceptional ensemble of musicians: Jen Allen on piano, Dave Zinno on bass, Rick Madej on drums, and Adam Scherer on guitar. As a songwriter, she has also collaborated extensively with her dear friend, fellow Connecticut native, and guitarist Adam Scherer. Together, they've brought their original music to stages throughout Connecticut, including the renowned Infinity Hall in Norfolk.
When she's not behind the microphone, Sarah is a professor in the School of Communication at the University of Hartford, where she inspires the next generation of communicators. And while her days may be spent in the classroom, she's never too far from a song as she’s been known to sing in the hallways. Whether interpreting a timeless jazz standard, sharing an original composition, or connecting with an audience through a familiar melody, Sarah brings warmth, wit, and a genuine love of music to the stage.
